Solid Waste Management
The Randolph County Solid Waste Management District (SWMD) was formed in 1996, after leaving W.U.R (Wayne, Union & Randolph) SWMD. The districts were set up by the government to proactively reduce the amount of waste going to final disposal (in landfills and incineration) through education, source reduction, re-use and recycling. Each district may differ in how they operate, but all of them are supervised by boards of locally elected officials and work towards one common goal; to reduce the solid waste disposed of by the residents and businesses of Indiana.
